Wagon Bits
This range of fittings is aimed at the builder of the close scale rather than the look-alike model. The fittings are all designed to work well but are also very close to scale. These objectives have been achieved by a combination of fabrications and lost wax castings, incorporating novel design and the use of less traditional materials. Fittings which are fastened to the boiler are built mainly in bronze. Where they include brass, these parts are not in contact with boiler steam.
B.R. Steam Brake Valve.

Fitted to most B.R. standards. This model uses lost wax castings and operates the steam brake using an internal piston valve. Connections are for 3/32 pipe. A working ratchet and spring loaded trigger hold the lever in the required position. Dummy vacuum connections are provided into which 3/64 wire can be sprung or glued to improve the effect.

£65.00 each

B.R. Top Feeds.

Lost wax castings machined up and fitted with a ball and cap

G.W.R. Cylinder Drain Cocks.

Sold in sets of 3, they come complete with 1/16” diameter copper drain pipes, with the ends flared, and 6 B.A. union nuts. They are available either with the outlet at 30 degrees as fitted to Stars, Castles and Kings, or with a vertical outlet. 3/16 x 40 threaded mounting.

£32.00 set of 3

G.W.R. Drivers Vacuum Brake Valve.

Built up from lost wax castings. This fitting incorporates the vacuum brake valve disc with the correct number of slots seated on an O ring to ensure a good seal, a working large ejector steam valve and a dummy small ejector steam valve. The working valves both have Tufnol handles (which are available separately) and the vacuum pipe gland nut is of the prototypical C spanner type. The fitting is flange mounted and takes it’s steam supply direct from the boiler through a hole which is sealed with an O ring (supplied) counter bored into the flange face. This valve operates a remotely mounted ejector, not one fitted inside the boiler.

£55.00 each

G.W.R. Tufnol Handles.

Tapered design used extensively on Great Western cab fittings. Drilled 1/16”.

50p each

L.M.S Cylinder Drain Cocks.

Sold in sets of 3. Complete with 1/16” diameter copper pipes (flared one end) and 6 B.A. union nuts. These are a copy of the round bodied style which uses separate brackets for the operating bar. Available for outside cylinders with drainpipes straight down or for Jubilee inside cylinder with the outlet to the left. One drain cock of each set is arranged for rear steam entry from the steam chest.

£32.00 set of 3

L.M.S Cylinder Relief Valves.

Two bolt fixing at 12mm centres.

£15.00 each

L.M.S Blower Valve.

Takes internal steam supply direct from the boiler. 5/16 and 3/16 x 40.

£12.00 each

L.M.S Snifter valve.

Used to allow air into the steam chests when drifting. These brass fittings incorporate a light disc valve (to allow easy opening and clear air flow) with an O ring seat for steam tightness. The lower cover has the correct 6 groups of 5 air inlet holes. 5/16 x 32 threaded mounting with dummy drilled flanges to allow fitting dummy studs and nuts if required.

£15.00 each

L.M.S Steam Manifold.

Used on Black 5, Jubilee, 8F etc. This fitting incorporates two injector steam valves with P.T.F.E. facings, working whistle valve, a pressure gauge take off with 1/16” pipe supplied, and dummy valves for the main shut off, brake ejector and steam heating The flanges and injector steam valve packing glands are drilled 1.2mm so that dummy studs and nuts can be fitted by the builder if required.

£85.00 each

Silvertown Lubricators.

Used widely by the L.M.S. and B.R, these lubricators were a distinctive feature of many loco footplates. My kit of parts can be machined up to produce a dummy version of the 12 point design, that is, 6 outlets per side and consists of a whitemetal casting for the body and lost wax castings for the operating lever and handle, with instructions for assembly.

£9.00 each

Gresham and Craven Backhead Injectors.

There were a distinctive feature fitted in pairs to earlier locos. These model ones are dummies, they are not working injectors, however they do incorporate an injector steam valve and clack for the delivery from an injector (not supplied) which can be mounted remotely.

£100 per pair, finished.

£25 per pair, kit of parts.
